Fiona Davies

Davies’ current art practice is a cross disciplinary and cross community collaborative investigation of the processes of medicalised dying in ICU. Grounded in her experience of the death of her father after four and a half months in ICU, she combines that emotional landscape with contemporary medical practices – specifically, the definitions of death, the materiality of blood and body parts and the processes of surveillance. This is an ongoing project – Blood on Silk started in 2009 in collaboration with the late physicist Dr Peter Domachuk. She is soon to complete a PhD at the University of Sydney and holds a B.Sc, UNSW), a Bachelor of Visual Art (UWS) and an MFA from Monash University
Her professional achievements in 2017 include the first Turbine Hall commission at Casula Powerhouse, Blood on Silk: Last Seen curated by Lizzy Marshall; exhibiting in Governance at Old Government House, Parramatta, participating in three Kiosk exhibitions for MAP in the Blue Mountains and exhibiting in Blood Attract and Repel at the Science Gallery, Melbourne curated by Dr Ryan Jefferies. Previously she was awarded a residency by the German State of Bavaria in 2016 for a series of exhibitions and public programs at Das KloHäuschen, Munich; a residency and exhibition within the Tufts Silk Biomedical and Engineering Laboratory, Boston; a 2014 exhibition at Campbelltown Arts Centre of six of the early major works of the Blood on Silk project; an extensive exhibition and public program at the State Silk Museum in Tbilisi Georgia and a major installation and symposium at UCA, Farnham, UK.

Anita Bacic
Anita Bacic is a Hobart-based artist focusing on creating experiential works for individuals using digital and non-digital means. Bacic is fascinated with the construction of stories, images and experiences and how we as individuals can actively contribute and interact in these processes. Her work is increasingly exploring location-based works in public space mediated by either mobile technology or with Bacic as mediator and performer. Since 2007 she has been exploring camera obscura or dark spaces by presenting them as
slow-spaces/experiences in contrast to our current hyper media-saturated world.
She continues to explore works which encourage curiosity, participation, personal connections and self-reflection that in turn can potentially challenge our perceptions
and how we see and interpret the world around us.
Bacic has a Master of Fine Arts, SoMA, CoFA, UNSW, Sydney and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from TCoA, UTAS. She has been a recipient of grants and awards, including Australia Council Arts Grants for New Work (Visual Arts), University of Tasmania C-Domain Grant, Tasmanian Regional ArtsFund Program, Arts Tasmania grants for Individuals,
AGNSW Dyason Bequest, and Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grant. She has participated in numerous residencies both internationally and in Australia, including the Cité Internationale des Arts artist residency in Paris, amberPlatform in Istanbul and Artist in Residence at Artspace, Sydney.
Bacic has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has participated in Festival
of Voices, Parramatta Lanes, White Night Melbourne, Nextwave Festival, Electrofringe New Media Arts Festival, ANAT’s Portable Worlds I & II (AUS); amberPlatform and Istanbul Biennale Parallel Event 2013 (TK), Videobrasil and File (BR).
