Michelle Hungerford is a Regional NSW based artist. Having lived on the land for almost 20 years, her practice has had a long standing engagement with the Australian landscape which has informed her experiences of seeing whilst traveling overseas. Most recently Michelle has exhibited at The Australian Embassy in Berlin alongside Anthony Cahill and John Martin.
Michelle created the body of work for 'In View' during her recent travels through Iceland.  The exhibition presents a collection of works on paper. Michelle distills the essence of the environment into the work as she takes her originally Australian subject matter and conveys it through a wider sense of place during her travels.
'In View' explores the concept of seeing and experiencing the exterior world through the individuals perception. Michelle delves into the notion of translating a direct sensual experience internally and then re-creating that essence onto the canvas.
How each person sees and perceives is determined by a myriad of subtleties, memories, thoughts, experiences, and visions. Michelle brings these elements together, transforming them into her work, creating a space for the viewer to reflect and connect, perhaps with the appreciation and great love for nature that clearly pervades the work she has produced.
