CORPUS is the Latin word for body.  This exhibition is about bringing together artists who, through their work, question ideas and ideals of masculinity, male identity, beauty and desire. The concept of the  "The Male Venus" is central to this exhibition, these artists' work deal with the male form as a site of veneration, admiration and worshiped heroics. The exhibition aims to confront notions of the male figure and the nude within an art cannon which has primarily had the female nude as the worshiped naked body. This group of artists makes reference to classical ideals of the nude male form, bodies which have been draped and covered by successive artistic milieu. CORPUS boldly reveals and questions masculinity, beauty, male identity and desire.
